Eurotank Environmental has completed repair works on a complex pipework system for a city council while keeping fuel flowing at one of the transport depot’s busiest times of the year.
The depot’s ageing steel pipework system feeds multiple filling positions but several of the pipework joints had developed small leak points when under pressure.
The customer needed diesel to be kept available for the bus fleet throughout the day and night so it was essential repairs were completed in a phased manner.
Jack Aplin, Eurotank’s Group Sales Director, said: “The team tackled one joint at a time so that fuel was always available throughout the repair work.
“With the lead-up to Christmas being a busy time of year for buses, the customer was keen to maintain the existing pipework and keep disruption and cost to a minimum rather than replace the system for new.”
It was identified that the multiple leak points were caused by degradation of the seals so each leaking joint was individually and methodically stripped down and rejointed with new sealing compound.
